The evolution of HERMES

The HERMES project management method is a successful product that successively adapts to the spirit of the times and reflects each evolutionary stage of the understanding of the project. This is one of the reasons why HERMES has been able to hold its own for over 50 years.

As of version 2022, HERMES can be used to manage both traditional and agile or scaled agile projects.

This is made possible by decoupling project and development management, which allows the security of a structured project approach to be combined with the many advantages of self-organized agile or scaled agile development management.

The program management appendix to this reference manual allows agile and traditional projects to be managed together as part of a program.

In an effort to be able to adapt the project management method very quickly to changing market conditions and user requirements, we have optimized the development of the method and migrated it to a digital platform.

This makes HERMES online (www.hermes.admin.ch) the central information platform for the method. In HERMES online, you can also register for the newsletter, make change requests, or give feedback in general.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped and is still helping us to keep this method up-to-date, simple, and clear, and we wish you much success in using it.
